Apologies for the lack of posts recently, we have doubled our workload this year and have really struggled to find time to keep the blog up to date!
The two big projects that we have been getting off the ground this year are –
-Support Across the Spectrum which is funded by The Big Lottery Fund and enables us to work with young people aged 15-25 who have Asperger’s to reduce social isolation.
Two sessions into 2013 and the younger Spectrum Club, funded by Children in Need is in full swing.
We have had several awesome new members join in the last few months and the group has swelled! Continue reading
It’s that time of year again when people start raising funds for the much publicized annual Children in Need campaign. Our project is no different and this year our Spectrum Club members are planning a Halloween party fundraiser.
It’s about time we introduced you to another one of our amazing members who help make Your Ideas Redditch great! Nathan is our second member to answer a few questions about what he thinks of Your Ideas.
Hello my name is Nathan and I am 13 years old and I live in Redditch and have been coming to Your Ideas since it opened.
What I have done here – I have done loads of art work here, like a model head and spray painting and painting canvasses.
What I like about Your Ideas – You help the community and its fun and you get to go on trips.
Why I come here – Its fun and you get to do loads of different activities.
If I could change something about Your Ideas it would be -Nothing I wouldn’t change nothing.
As he is a man of few words I have dug out photographs of Nathan since he started with us so you can see a snapshot of what he has been a part of with us. Enjoy!
Core to the way we work is listening to the people we work with and those we help. We believe everyone should have a voice so its great when we get a piece to put on the Blog. But remember the opinions here are those of the person and they don’t necessarily reflect Your Ideas’s policies or views.
We thought we would treat you to an insight into our Spectrum Club world using photographs from a session on March 29th.
The Spectrum Club is currently funded by Children In Need (big thank you to anyone who donates) and is for youngsters diagnosed with Aspergers. On the surface it is merely a youth club session for those with Aspergers, but for the members and their families it is much more .
It was a year ago when we received our Children in Need funding to run and develop our awesome Spectrum Club project, (a youth club exclusively for young people diagnosed on the autistic spectrum) time has flown by!
Another week has passed and the centre is rapidly filling up with new artwork, the youngsters are just churning it out! Our recycling theme is really taking off and is saving the planet/our bank balance too 😉
Our Art Attack inspired Croc is now complete and is being displayed in our window in Matchborough Centre, Redditch.
