Another successful year at Your Ideas Redditch

Firstly we would like to wish you all a belated Happy New Year from all at Your Ideas!

Secondly we would like to share some of our highlights from 2012…

  • A generous donor gifted well needed resources to the project
  • Our Children in Need funded Spectrum Club hit its one year anniversary
  • The Great Egg and Spoon Relay of Matchborough was a success raising £800 as part of the West Midlands Firefit Challenge
  • Volunteers spent a weekend decorating our toilets
  • Artist Rich Inwood spent 3 days during Easter running graffiti workshops with our Art Club
  • We welcomed many new volunteers to the project who have been excellent additions to our team
  • The Spectrum Club Steering Group was created
  • Arrow Vale students enjoyed sessions at the Redditch Skate Park and BMX track and community gardening sessions with Alan Walker
  • Two members applied for, got and delivered an awesome project funded by the Princes Trust Ben Kinsella Fund
  • We completed our Health Improvement Fund SRE dvd resource with the film maker Chris Bradley
  • A ridiculous amount of artwork was created for our recycled art project, wall mural and centre
  • We displayed artwork in our window display, the Kingfisher Shopping Centre, the Palace Theatre and the Abbey Stadium
  • With help from Pete Burton we created planters for the local nursery
  • Our members went on some brilliant trips including London, theme parks, laser tag, cinema and Stratford.
  • A larger than life Art Angel Gabriel was created with help from artist Callum Marshall and our talented members
  • Some of our youngsters trained and became young commissioning advisers for Redditch
  • We doubled our younger Spectrum Club sessions going from fortnightly to weekly
  • Sport England funded a football project ran by Delroy Thompson for local lads which has already been a huge success
  • Chief Executive of Redditch Borough Council Kevin Dicks visited our project and was very impressed
  • We said goodbye to our lovely Arrow Vale student group
  • Alan Walker took the reigns of the 50+ With It Group and has secured funding into 2013
  • West Mercia Police and Grants for the Arts both helped fund our Afterschool Art Club
  • Our website got a revamp
  • We joined the world of twitter
  • European Social Funding enabled us to support more volunteers develop skills, gain experience and get into paid roles
  • Our Spectrum Club held a Halloween party raising money for Children in Need and a Christmas party raising money for Sense
  • We were successful with our Big Lottery Reaching Communities bid to develop our work with our members with Aspergers Syndrome
  • This little blog has reached its one year milestone
This is just a snapshot of what has gone on during 2012! We have so many new and exciting things starting in 2013 we can’t wait to get started.
