This month has been great for indulging in obsessive compulsive behaviours whilst having a mega sort out at the project. We have spent a ridiculous amount of hours organising arts and craft materials and resources into easy to find storage. This was incredibly laborious but massively pleasing! Can’t wait for our groups to get stuck in to making some amazing artwork.
All of our groups have now started back and we are noticing big differences in our week now that we no longer have the school students on Tuesdays, we miss them!
The Spectrum Orange group had their last fortnightly Thursday night session as they will now be able to attend weekly on Tuesday evenings from the 25th September. One member brought along a pet corn snake to the session who proved very popular amongst our members!
We have also been receiving great compliments on the toilets since our team of volunteers kindly painted them. Other locals have been helping with some painting jobs in the centre which has helped smarten up the centre.
50+ group had their first session back where they painting clay work and had a guest talk from Stoneham Group. The group leader Alan was pleased to see lots of new members at the group. Our thoughts are with some of our members who are currently unable to attend the group due to bad health.
Our Re Start football project funded by Sport England is going great and the youngsters are really enjoying it. Coach Delroy Thompson is pleased with the teams progress and is confident they are not far off playing matches against other teams.
The Art Club are back and have already started work on the Halloween window display which we are hoping will be even better than last years amazing display.
3 of our brilliant young people had a tough job on their hands last night as part of a panel of youngsters tasked to give feedback on the funding applications for the Redditch district (as part of the commissioning process mentioned in previous posts). It was not an easy or massively fun process but they did an amazing job and did enjoy it once they got the hang of it! So proud of them and the hard work they put in representing often hard to reach youngsters, they did their peers proud. All smiles on the way home after a celebratory car-aoke and burger…
And lastly, we are currently looking to form a fundraising committee to help with our fundraising plan for the project. This will include many roles and anyone is welcome to help. Email for more info – firstname.lastname@example.org
